Ex Vivo Beating Heart Apparatus
Our efforts to revolutionize cardiovascular patient care and research led us to develop the VENAPORTA© Ex Vivo Beating Heart Apparatus. This apparatus is able to sustain a strong heartbeat in an ex vivo large animal heart for over six hours. During this time the heart is perfused by blood and the tissue does not begin to decay or necrose. The heart can be manipulated through surgical or pharmacological techniques and their effects on the heartbeat rate, strength, systolic rhythm, diastolic rhythm, and systolic-diastolic weight difference (SDWD) is measured in real time. Whilst the apparatus is fully functional and operational, it is not yet commercially available. For more details on this project, please contact us!
