Biological Vascular Grafts

The quality of graft used can lead to either fantastic or detrimental outcomes following vascular surgery. The most commonly used vascular grafts are non-biological as they are inert, strong, and easy-to-handle. Unfortunately, non-biological grafts are unable to perform the biochemical, biological, and physical functions of the lost tissue. Biological grafts, however, have been an unattractive alternative as they are potentially quite immunogenic and their use may lead to tissue rejection or graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). We have developed a unique fixation strategy to produce bovine-derived biological vascular grafts that are inert, biocompatible, strong, resist dilation, require no pre-clotting, and are completely non-immunogenic. Once our grafts are commercially available, we believe that they will the new gold standard for vascular surgery. For more details on this project, please contact us!
